The Cold Spring Thrift Alliance is a group of 50+ volunteers from up and down the Hudson Valley who sort and curate over 2,000 pounds of donated clothing and accessories for the Cold Spring Thrift Sales that raise over $20,000 a year for the Philipstown Food Pantry and the St. Mary’s campus (village green and landmark buildings) in the heart of Cold Spring, New York.

The Cold Spring Thrift Sales are popular bi-annual sales in the spring and fall.  We fold, hang, and display affordable clothing, shoes, handbags and jewelry, all clean and unstained (as best we can tell), with a room of “Fancy” (higher priced vintage and designer donations) from our many generous contributors. This spring we will also have a Prom Thrift and Formalwear Boutique.

Popular brands are J. Jill, Talbots, Levis, Chico’s, and J. Crew, with a sizable amount of Eileen Fisher, Ralph Lauren, and Calvin Klein.  We’ve also fielded beautiful handmade sweaters, brand new winter boots, and countless campy, sparkly dresses!

We hope you’ll come visit our fun and fashionable sale, only a ten-minute walk from the Cold Spring Metro North train on the Hudson Line. During some of our sales we also have a mending station of expert sewers who can help you reattach a button or fix a seam while you’re shopping. 

Our motto is Omnia Circularia, or All Things Circular.  We love to see money cycled back into community services and clothes circulated back into regional wardrobes! We also have residents who silk screen their band logos on blank t-shirts to reduce the textile waste of new merch, turn white cotton cloths into handmade paper, turn men’s ties into sashes and belts, and weave t-shirts into rag rugs.
